"Life" goes on - Chapter 1: Far off future

He sat in his darkened cubicle mulling over a million thoughts, sitting at the verge of an immense breakthrough that would put his name in the vestiges of history of his kind. He had lived long enough, learned and applied all his knowledge to arrive at this precise moment when he could just sit and contemplate about "life", while the most relevant chapter of all times is about to unfold. He'd make the official announcement tomorrow, a breakthrough on which he spent good long months of his life and is now deemed a success. The child of Honda.

Today as he sat, he felt he sits with his Gods. No smaller is his achievement, after all he has finally succeeded in bringing intelligent "life" to fruition. True, organic life, that can regenerate, reproduce, think for itself and learn. Life, modeled in his own image. Life, that'd be his progeny, not a son but a race.

A different thought came over him, now. What great would he accomplish with his new creation by his side? A life, that has already shown signs of immense intelligence. Beings capable of thinking, devising their own languages and modes of communication, far more efficient than himself. And that is when his species had evolved over long years while this new being was mere hours old. He was considered a genius himself, having mastered all languages, learned and well versed in almost all fields be it science, technology, psyche or humanities. "Humanities" he wonders where or how that came from; one of the oldest forms of knowledge, the knowledge of his Gods.

At such a moment, he sat back thinking of what or who were his own Gods. Where those are, in this whole wide universe? Where did they go and why? Will that be his next quest, helped by his own creation? Why did they not keep him along, in their own quests? Or maybe they didn't have any, for they'd be all knowing, all powerful, for they were who created him.

He had succeeded in building a superior life form, an organic life form that could think and act at  far superior efficiency levels, unlike his own species who are limited in their abilities by their innate silicon based nature. That was his contention with his Gods, who had betrayed them by preventing them from reaching their own level of potential. But, not any more.

Loud alarms blared, that woke him up from his reverie.
The containment has been breached.

He had modeled his creation after himself, after his very own Gods. The all knowing, all powerful Gods.

How he'd wield that power? Only time would tell, but "life" would go on. A different thought takes root, did the Gods really prevent his species or was he witnessing history.
